Tell us a bit about yourself!
My story is no different to anybody else's. I was simply a "fat chick" in my eyes who "got fit". Given I had a little more motivation than the average person out there but that didn't make me anything special. I was overweight for the first time in my life, my fitness levels had deteriorated and I couldn't stand the reflection looking back at me in the mirror every morning. I felt uncomfortable in my clothes and my self-esteem had actually hit rock bottom.

I had volunteered to be a living donor for my father who required a kidney transplant so I knew I had to get my health an fitness in order quick smart to give myself and my father the best possible chance at life. Thankfully another kidney became available but that didn't stop me from my own health and fitness dreams. I wanted to be a figure competitor and nothing was going to stop me. I started at 68kg and competed at 51kg five months to the day in the shape of my life.

Over time I had my own health issues. Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) & Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) both of which impact me in different ways. Originally my primary goal was to obtain peak condition as a figure competitor and it still is but now it's about my longevity. I'm still a very passionate competitor but it's so much more than that now. Every day I continue to learn how to maintain and life a lifestyle where I eat healthily and exercise on a daily basis. I also want to portray a positive influence and be a good role model to women of all shapes and sizes. Nothing is impossible and dreams do come true. I know that now.

December 2005 I started documenting my personal journey to being a successful figure competitor on my public blog at It was a way to express what’s involved in the day in a life of a figure competitor.

I work full time in the Royal Australian Air Force and am almost finished studying my Certificate III & IV in Fitness so that I can become a more qualified role model. I’m also over at as Forum Moderator. So life for me is busy as always and I wouldn’t have it any other way. :o)
